Description: Discover how licensed physical, occupational, and speech-language therapists partner with horses to create meaningful clinical experiences and functional outcomes. This introductory webinar explores the unique role of equine movement and ground-based interventions, while highlighting the important distinction between adaptive riding and clinical therapy services. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of clinical considerations, safety and screening, contraindications and precautions, and appropriate equipment modifications. Whether you are a therapist exploring this approach, a professional considering referrals, or an organization interested in developing clinical partnerships, this session will provide a practical foundation for understanding equine partnership in therapy.

Edye serves as the chief executive officer at HETRA. She has been with the organization for the past 35 years in various capacities. Along with being the CEO of the organization, she is an occupational therapist, and a clinical specialist in hippotherapy. These other “hats” help keep her well connected to the programming offered at HETRA and give her first-hand experience of the impact HETRA has on the participants they serve. Edye has assisted in HETRA’s growth from a small all-volunteer organization operating in boarding facilities to owning their own facility with a full-time staff of 18. Edye earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University in 1991. In 2007 she was awarded the PATH Intl. Region 7 Instructor of the Year Award.
